Yearly Holidays

With being able to experience some of the world through my academic travels, I also love travelling each year with family to different countries. My favourtie destination that I keep finding myself going back to has to be Fungerola in Spain. For roughly the past 8 years, me and my family travel each year to Spain to enjoy a week worth of relaxation right on the beach.  With the shops being a quick 5-10 minute walk away from our apartments it made the perfect location for me and my big family to spend. With the amazing few of the beach, just a 2 minute walk outside our apartments, these holidays made my love for travel want to expand so much more.  With COVID hitting in the past few years, this has meant that there hasn't been as much family holidays abroad. Instead we have tried our best to have stay at home holidays, and have headed to different places through Ireland to enjoy a relaxing holiday.  The photo above is from one of our few staycations in Ireland when Covid h...

The Next Step

My Fvourite Hobby

Growing up I had a love for sports and use to play for my local Gaelic team which i really enjoyed. I played Gaelic for around 5 years and always got really excited when we had to play matches against other teams as the adrenaline give me the most ecstatic feeling ever. However, after a while I didn't get the enjoyment out of Gaelic anymore. I wanted to play a sport that was more challenging and allowed me to travel in order to play this different sport.

This is when my passion for skiing came around. Initially, I had heard that my school was going to be doing annual skiing trips but from seeing how competitive and tiring it was on the tv, I didn't think I would be able to keep up with it or even be any good at it. You could say I have two left feet.  All my friends really wanted me to go on the school skiing trip and I decided maybe it would be a good idea to learn a different type of sport and see if this was the one for me.

In January of 2017, I headed out on a plane to Bulgaria with all my friends to see if skiing really was gonna be my new loved sport. You could say the whole experience began on a rocky start, as neither me nor any of my friends could stay standing on a pair of skies never mind ski down a mountain. after two days on intense training up to 7 hours each day, our group was trusted to head up the mountain to see if we could make it to the bottom with out dying or breaking a leg. I have to say the views from the top of a mountain are better than I had ever imagined them to be.

From trying skiing and having the ups and downs of learning a sport like this, it made me realised how much I loved doing it. This new experience led me to coming back year and year again and this allowed me to eventually become an advanced skier and I was awarded a certificate in my last year of being able to ski before Covid hit in January of 2019. I am looking forward to being able to go back to Bulgaria and get back into skiing and seeing the amazing views of being on the slopes once again.
